Dayton Mayor Nan Whayley says she was not invited to the ceremony honoring Dayton police on Monday at the White House.  The officers received the Medal of Valor for risking their lives during a mass shooting at a bar. Whaley had a misunderstanding with the POTUS last month when he visited the town in the aftermath of the shootings that claimed lives 9 and left 27 injured  there.  While she, like many mayors around the country, spoke about the need for more aggressive background checks for gun purchases she did not make any specific negative remarks about pres. Trump and that the presidents rhetoric had been divisive and "not what people needed," Brown and Whaley said they only briefly met Trump after he landed in Ohio and did not accompany him to the hospital or contradict his version of what happened there.

The president had accused both Whaley of Sen. Sherodd Brown of "totally misrepresenting what took place inside of the hospital, where they did not accompany him.  They had me Trump on the tarmac and held a separate press conference on the day of his visit. Both Trump and his social media director gave the impression that While Whaley did say Trump's general rhetoric was "divisive" and "not what people needed," Brown and Whaley said they contradict his version of what happened there.
